Anime Club: Anime club will have its next meeting tomorrow, Tuesday October 19th at 3:15 in Mr. Hinkel’s room, 132. It will be a cosplay show and tell, so bring in cool pieces you’ve made or purchased for a bit of show and tell. We will be done by 4:15 this week because of conferences.


Girls Soccer: There will be a girls soccer informational meeting in room 256 after school on Thursday Oct 21. Anyone interested in trying out for girls soccer in the spring should attend the meeting. Coach Katie Vande Castle (ksvandecastle@gbaps.org) or Coach Maddy Mahoney (mlmahoney@gbaps.org ) with questions. 

Girls Volleyball:The Preble Varsity volleyball team traveled to DePere for their final conference match of the season on Thursday night.

Preble defeated De Pere 25-17, 25-18, 25-14.

 

Preble was led by Hannah Vlies with 8 kills and 3 blocks.

Alivia Jeanquart and Paige Blahnik combined for 21 assists. Madeline Whitney had 11 digs and 7 aces.

 

On Saturday, the Preble varsity volleyball team went 2-3 at the Luxemburg-Casco Invite. Alivia Jeanquart led the Hornets with 61 assists, 21 digs, 10 kills and 4 aces.

Hannah Vlies had 23 kills, 11 digs, and 8 aces.

Rylie Smith had 21 kills, 23 digs, and 3 aces

Kiara Kuhn chipped in with 28 kills.

Madeline Whitney had 45 digs and 8 aces.

 

The volleyball team travels on Thursday night to Appleton East for the 1st round of regional playoffs.


Key Club: There will be a Key Club meeting on Wednesday October 20th after school in room 256. Please bring club dues! We have a guest speaker and will be making cards. All are welcome to attend the meeting.


Math Team: Attention math team students, our 2nd Math Meet is tonight, Monday, Oct. 18th at Preble in Room 237 at 3:30 pm. Email Mr. Schwedrsky if you are unable to attend the meet. Practice problems with answers are posted in our Google Classroom Page


Musical Costume Sale: Do you want to pop some tags? The musical has cleaned their costume racks, and for a buck an item, you can add some spice to your wardrobe or Halloween costume. See you in the commons during lunch and immediately after school this week only!


Preble Cross Country Conference Championship: Last Thursday, the boys and girls cross country teams competed in the FRCC Conference Championship meet. There were lots of great individual performances including personal records for many runners. 

The boys team placed fourth with Aaron Paris earning 1st team all conference. Garrison Willems and Ethan Raye were all conference honorable mention. 

The girls team placed second at the conference meet with all eight varsity girls achieving all conference honors. Elise Smith was first team all conference. Hailey Novitski, Ally Buraczewski, Hannah Smith, Emma Dornbush, and Ava DeBaker were 2nd team all conference. Gabby Haller and Abby Peruzzi earned all conference honorable mention.

 A special shoutout to Melana Webber who won the JV girls race conference race. 

Thank you to all the seniors whose last race was conference. Wish the teams luck as they race on Saturday in Manitowoc at the sectional meet for a chance to qualify for the state meet!

Preble FFA: Preble FFA will hold the monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct 20 at 3:05 in room 187.  We will be holding officer elections. The six positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter and Sentinel.  If you are interested in being a chapter officer, email Mr. Vader, cmvader@gbaps.org.  We will also be distributing materials for the Annual Fruit Sale Fundraiser.

Student Services: ASVAB 

The ASVAB test will be given tomorrow morning in the LMC. Please arrive by 7:20. If you are still interested in signing up you can do so at the following link or by reaching out to your school counselor. The test and post-test follow up will take the first 3 periods of the day and we’ll take care of your attendance.

Get It Done Day

Get It Done Day will take place this week Wednesday periods 1-8 in the LMC for Seniors. Students will have the opportunity to complete college applications, send out their transcripts and work on the student portion of the FAFSA with support form counselors and local college reps. Some teachers may be taking classes down, but please feel free to join us during a lunch or study hall as well. If you have any questions please see your school counselor.

The Buzz: The Preble Buzz will meet TODAY (10/18) at 3:00 PM in room 107A. We will be checking our progress on October articles/stories for this month’s issue. Please bring your chromebook to work on your story and get set up in SNO Sites. Still interested in joining? Preble GSA: October is LGBTQIA+ history month--let’s celebrate with our first GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) meeting. The first informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct 20 at 3:05 in room 185.  This will be an informal meeting to see where you, the students, want to take this club. Everyone is welcome. Unity Day:  is celebrated on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. On this day, we encourage staff and students to wear and share the color ORANGE to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.  

Yearbook: Attention yearbook staff: We will be meeting this Wednesday, October 20, after school to look at covers and themes of the book.  Please attend if you can! Haven’t been to a meeting yet and want to be involved in the yearbook? Come to 205 on Wednesday and see what it is all about.
