Today’s Fun Fact: The hardest working muscle in your body is your heart: It pumps more than 2,000 gallons of blood a day and beats more than 2.5 billion times in a 70-year life span.

Congratulations and Good Luck: If you happen to see senior Nora Barr in class or in the hallways today, wish her a HUGE good luck and congratulations! She leaves for New York City tomorrow to represent Preble and Green Bay as part of the Macy’s Great American Marching Band. Nora, a flute player, auditioned via video for the band last year during virtual school. She has a jam-packed week of rehearsals, seminars, sightseeing, and a performance of course in the 2.5 mile long 95th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is internationally recognized as the official start of the holiday season and world-famous as a uniquely American entertainment extravaganza.

This prestigious band will take an honor position among the gigantic helium balloons, impressive floats carrying celebrities, and the nation's top marching bands. Stepping-off from Central Park, the Band will be cheered by the 3 million spectators lining the parade route. Arriving at Macy's Herald Square, the Band will perform for celebrity hosts, a grandstand audience, and more than 50 million TV viewers watching the broadcast live on NBC.

Congratulations again to Nora, and you can watch her live in the parade on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, on NBC26, which kicks off at 9:00am!

Dungeons and Dragons Club: Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 23rd starting at 3:15. Games will end between 5:30 and 6:00.

(Story continued from yesterday)

Jade tells you that the woman you’re looking for, Maccath, has had a bit of a… disagreement with one of the dragons within the archives. A black dragon named Umbrasil has entrapped her between several of the tall and heavy bookshelves.

As you search the library calling Maccath’s name, you eventually hear a weak knocking from within a space enclosed by four of these shelves. One party member casts a spell to turn themselves into a small bird, a finch, and flits overtop of the stacks to find a red-skinned, black horned tiefling leaning against one of the walls of her prison. With a curative spell and a length of rope thrown over by another ally, you’re able to pull Maccath the Crimson out to you.

She’s confused, but thanks you, and asks why you’ve saved her.

“We’re looking for a way to the Drakkenhorn, and apparently you’re an expert on all things dragon,” you tell her.

“If we’re going to find the Drakkenhorn,” she says back, “we need to speak with The Keeper.”

Get It Done Day: Attention Seniors! A second Get It Done Day will take place next week Monday periods 1-8 in the LMC. If you have yet to complete any college applications, send out your transcripts, and/or work on the student portion of the FAFSA, please feel free to join the counselors and career coaches in the fiction section of the LMC during your lunch or study hall. If you have any questions please see your school counselor.

INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL: The 10th annual Preble High School Intramural Basketball league is now forming. Games will begin Monday, December 6. Lace up the sneakers, get your friends together and form a team. Pick up a registration form in the Physical Education Office and return to Mr. Gaulke before November 30. Space is limited and the league usually fills up fast, so get your teams in quickly.

Psych Club: The next Psych Club meeting will be on Monday, November 22, at 3:05 PM in Room 105. Please listen to episodes 1-3 of the Serial podcast before the meeting, and contact Mr. Wiskerchen if you have any questions.

Winter Running Club: Winter Running Club will start this coming Monday, November 22nd.  This club is open to any student at Preble to participate and involves informal, non coached outdoor running.  Benefits include running with friends, staying in shape for sports, and building endurance over winter.  The running club will take place immediately after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout the winter but please bring outdoor clothes to run. Coaches will be present for check in and to help log miles/minutes of running. Hope to see you there!

Wrestling: There is still time to join wrestling, practices run 3:30-5:30. If interested in joining, stop by the wrestling room after school. Any questions contact Coach Cherney at [email protected].

Today is Friday and you know what that means, get up out of your chair and join us in singing/dancing our School Song
