Seniors in Preble High School’s Senior Business Marketing Internship course presented marketing plans to local leaders and marketing experts as a part of the 2025 Chick-Fil-A Advertising Pitch Contest on March 13, 2025.

Students in the course worked for seven weeks to craft marketing plans for their client, the new Bellevue, Wis. Chick-Fil-A location. The 19 students in the class then presented detailed marketing plans to a group of 11 professionals and marketing experts.

Experts included two Chick-Fil-A Owner/Operators including local owner/operator Preston Waala, Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich, Superintendent Vicki Bayer, Green Bay Packers Director of Marketing Joan Malcheski, and leaders from Prince of Peace Parish, Preble High School Principal and the Green Bay Area Public School District.

Students presented examples of print and digital media advertising, social media campaigns, gorilla marketing, videos, billboards and more.

Bellevue Chick-Fil-A Owner/Operator Preston Waala said these presentations were crafted after only a 45 minute conversation with the students about the needs of his business.

While the presentations are complete, the students' work will continue to see the light of day. Waala said he and fellow Chick-Fil-A owner/operator Justin Knight, who runs a restaurant in Schererville, Ind. both plan implement parts if the students' marketing plans.

"[We] are both bringing different aspects of these presentations back to our restaurants," Waala said in an email.

The course, taught by Mark Bonetti, is offered each year to seniors at Preble High School. Every year, the class creates marketing plans for area businesses. Previous business partners include Culvers, Kwik Trip, Nicolet Bank, Noodles and Company and Boba Bae.
