Eligibility Requirements:
Open to any student with an interest – dance experience helpful but not necessary. Music background recommended. Students must maintain a passing grade in all classes.
Description:
The Color Guard is an extra-curricular performance group that provides a visual component to the Preble Marching Band—whether during halftime shows or in parades in the community. Members will learn various movements and incorporate some dance while using flags and other props. From December to February, the group prepares their Winter Guard performance for basketball halftime to recorded music.
Time Commitment:
Varies depending on performance schedule – 2-3 practices a week in September/October, December, and March. Recommended that students have a study hall during a scheduled band class, if not already enrolled in band.
Procedures for Joining:
Register on the Preble website under the Activities tab. Click on Online Registration and complete the information required. Based on workshop attendance and auditions in April-May for the following year.
